Days After Calling Virat Kohli His Childhood Hero; Abrar Ahmed CLAIMS He 'Teased' Star India Batter Durng CT 2025 Match

While Pakistan had a very poor campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025, one of the sole bright spots was the performance of Abrar Ahmed who impressed with his spin bowling. A few days ago, the young spinner, in a post on Instagram revealed that Virat Kohli was his childhood hero and it was an honour to bowl to him during the match vs India. However, just a few days after this, Abarar has now claimed that he teased Kohli during the match.
In an interaction with Telecom Asia Sport, Abrar Ahmed said that bowling to his childhood hero Virat Kohli was a challenge. He claimed that he teased the sar India batter asking to hit him for a six. However, Kohli never got angry, showing what a great human being he is.
“My childhood dream of bowling to Kohli has come true in Dubai,” Abrar told Telecom Asia Sport. “It was a great challenge and I took the liberty of teasing him, asking him to hit me a six, but he never got angry. Kohli is a great batter, we all know that. But he is a great human being too,” Abrar said.

Virat Kohli's Two-Word Message To Abrar Ahmed

Abrar Ahmed also revealed that Virat Kohli said 'well bowled' to him after the match which made his day. The young off-spinner als praised his fitness and running between the wickets.
“He said, ‘well bowled’ after the match, and that made my day,. “I have grown up idolizing Kohli and used to tell Under-19 players that one day I will bowl to him. Kohli's fitness is outstanding. The way he runs between the wicket is eye-catching and that's what makes him a unique cricketer," he said.

After getting Shubman Gill out in te India vs Pakistan match, Abrar Ahmed's celebration to send the star India batter off sparked a lot of controversy with several legends like Wasim Akram even criticizing him. He has now apologized for this. However, he said that it is just his style and was not reprimanded by any match official as well.
“That's my style and I see nothing wrong with it. No official told me that I did anything wrong but if it hurt anyone, I am sorry for that. It was not my intention to hurt anyone,”
