Jason Gillespie recently grabbed all the headlines when he called current interim Pakistan head coach Aaqib Javed a clown for lobbying from behind to oust both him and Gary Kirsten as the Pakistan red ball and white ball coaches, respectively. This caused quite a stir in Pakistan. Days after making this controversial comment, Gillspie has now lashed out at Sunil Gavaskar. In fact, he has even dubbed one of his comments on the India vs Pakistan rivalry as nonsense.
Speaking to Sports Today after the India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025 match, Sunil Gavaskar said that a B team or C team from India can easily give the Pakistan team a run for their money, given their current poor form.

"I think a B team (from India) certainly (can give Pakistan a run for their money). C team, I am not too sure. But a B team will be very, very hard to beat for Pakistan in their current form," Gavaskar had said.
In a video shared by Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq, Jason Gillespied dismissed Gavaskar's comments as 'absolute nonsense'. He said that if Pakistan picked the right players and gave them time to perform and develop, then they could beat anyone.
"I don't buy this rhetoric. I saw some comments from Sunil Gavaskar about how the Indian B team or Indian C team would beat the Pakistan top team. That's nonsense. Absolute nonsense. If Pakistan pick and stick with the right players and give them time to shine and, time to learn and develop their games, they can beat anyone. I've got no doubt about that," the former Australian pacer said.

"Too Much Impatience In Pakistan Cricket"

Jason Gillespie said that Pakistan needs to pick the right talent and support them in the long term. If the PCB want change and results to improve, they need to get the right players and selectors, give them time, and be patient to let them do their jobs.
"(They) just got to pick the right high-end talent and support them and be patient with them. You know, there's far too much impatience, in my opinion, in Pakistan cricket. And if Pakistan, if the board, PCB and the board want change and want results to improve, they need to get the right people in place, get the right players on the bus, get the right selection panel in place and back them in and give them time and be patient with them to allow them to do their jobs," Gillespie added.
