Mohammad Hafeez and Rashid Latif recently hogged the limelight for their comments on '90s' cricketers. While Hafeez targeted the majority of cricketers without naming them, Latif was pretty sharp in his criticism. He didn't mention Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram's names but it was clear that he was attacking the duo during the podcast.
Younis has responded to recent criticism and shown the mirror to Hafeez and Latif with a 'not bad' post on X. The Pakistan legend hit back by sharing a post which included his and Akram's records.
“90’s KA LONDA” Test - 191 ODI’s - 618 Wkts - 1705 Runs - 8594 5wkts - 66 10wkts - 10 #NotBad @wasimakramlive
#GoodOldDays," he wrote on X.
Younis played 87 Tests and 262 ODIs in which he scalped 373 and 416 wickets, respectively. Akram played 104 Tests and 356 ODIs. The left-arm pacer scalped 414 wickets in red-ball cricket and dismissed 502 batters in white-ball cricket. Akram hit 3 centuries, including a double-century, in Tests. Akram and Younis are part of a cricketing show in Dubai during the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy.
What Hafeez and Latif said?
Hafeez said that he was huge fan of players who played in the 90s but also highlighted their failure to win a World Cup. "I am a huge fan of those who played in the 1990s but when it comes to legacy, they left nothing for Pakistan. They didn't win an ICC event - they lost the (World Cups of) 1996, 1999 and 2003. We reached one final (in the 1999 World Cup) and lost that badly," he said.
Latif directly targeted Akram and Younis without mentioning their names and called them Dubai ke launde. "Dubai boys (Dubai ke launde) have created a ruckus. They are happy praising each other. They fought throughout their career, which hurt Pakistan cricket...interesting people. Throw money in front of them; they will do anything)," the former Pakistan captain said.
