Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra slammed centuries as New Zealand registered a huge total of 362 on the board in the semi-final of thr 2025 Champions Trophy against South Africa. Both the batsmen broke several records after breaching the three-figure mark. Williamson became the first NZ batsman to score 19000 runs in international cricket.
Williamson, who denied a central contract in 2024, once again showed why the team needs him on big stages. He hit a brilliant 102 off 94 balls. His knock included 2 sixes and 10 boundaries.
Kane Williamson creates world record
Kane Williamson etched his name in record books and created a world record with a century against South Africa. Williamson is now the only batsman in history to slam a hat-trick of centuries against SA in ODIs. The former NZ captain has only played 3 ODIs against SA in the past six years.
A month before the semi-final, the two teams met in an ODI during the tri-series in Lahore. He remained unbeaten on 133 in that game. Back in the 2019 World Cup, Williamson remained unbeaten on 106 off 138 balls against SA as NZ chased down the target of 242.
Williamson is also the only NZ batsman to slam a hat-trick of centuries against a team in ODIs. Interestingly, he hit 3 centuries across four innings during the two-match Test series between the two teams in February 2024. Williamson has 6 centuries in the past 5 matches against NZ. He hasn't played a T20I against the Proteas since 2017.

New Zealand put on a huge total of 362 on the board in the semi-final against South Africa. Apart from Williamson and Rachin, Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell also played key roles in this huge total. Both right-handers slammed 49 runs each in this total. The winner of the semi-final will face India on March 9 in Dubai.
