India have had a brilliant campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025. They have won all their matches so far, and have qualified for their third straight ICC white-ball final in two years. They will now take on New Zealand in the summit clash of the tournament at the Dubai International Stadium on March 9 (Sunday) from 2.30 PM. This will be a clash between two of the best teams of the tournament. However, India might have got a big advantage before the final on Sunday, as one of the star New Zealand player suffered an injury scare.
During the second Champions Trophy semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa, star Kiwi pacer Matt Henry suffered a massive injury scare. While taking a crucial diving catch to dismiss the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen, Henry landed awkwardly on his shoulder, and suffered an injury. He looked in severe discomfort as the physios attended him. He was even forced to leave the field.
Matt Henry also could not complete his 10 overs. He bowled just 7 overs, taking 2 wickets and giving away 42 runs.
Mitchell Santner Provides Update On Matt Henry Injury
In the interaction after the second semi-final, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner said that Matt Henry's shoulder was a bit sore and they have to wait and see whether he could play the final vs India.
'Have to wait and see how Matt Henry's shoulder is. It's a bit sore, we have to wait for a couple of days and see," Santner said.
Matt Henry Was Lethal Vs India
In the final Group A game between India and New Zealand at Dubai, the Men in Blue scored 249/9 in the first innings. The wrecker in chief for New Zealand was Matt Henry.
He became the first bowler to take a fove-wicket haul against India in the history of the Champions Trophy, finishing with career-best figures of 5/42. Hence, if he does miss out, then India might heave a big sigh of relief.
