India stormed into the 2025 Champions Trophy final with a four-wicket win over Australia in the semi-final on Tuesday (March 4). Chasing a target of 265, India always remained in contention and completed the game in 48.1 overs. Virat Kohli delivered a Player of the Match performance and slammed 84 off 98 balls.
The former India captain only hit 5 boundaries in his knock and scored the rest of the runs running between the wickets. Virat missed out on his century by 16 runs.
Virat, the architect of India's win, and other members of Team India celebrated in the dressing room after KL Rahul hit the match-winning six on the first delivery of the 49th over. The former captain shared a priceless hug with his present captain (Rohit) after the win.
Rohit couldn't convert his start into a big one. He scored 28 off 29 balls in the chase. Virat added 91 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer. Axar Patel hit 27 off 30 balls before his dismissal. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 42 off 32 balls as India completed the win with 11 balls left.
Who will India face in the final?
India will face either South Africa or New Zealand in the final on Sunday (March 9). The two teams are scheduled to lock horns in the semi-final on March 5 in Lahore. The winner of the game will face India in the final. India haven't travelled to Pakistan for CT. It was already confirmed that they will play their semi-final and final in Dubai.
India on Sunday will be playing their third consecutive CT final. They defeated England to win the 2013 Champions Trophy. Led by Virat Kohli, India lost to Pakistan in the 2017 CT final. Mohammad Rizwan-led Pakistan haven't made it to the second round this time.
