Glenn Phillips pulled off a gravity-defying catch to dismiss Virat Kohli during the New Zealand vs India Group A match in the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai on Sunday. Not only did Phillip's effort stun the crowd in attendance, but it also left Kohli shell-shocked.
The look on Kohli's face was not without a reason because he did cut the ball hard and flat, but the Kiwi came flying out of nowhere to his right and picked it late and, with an outstretched right hand, grabbed it even as it was horizontal to the ground.
What made the catch even more impressive was that the reaction time of Glenn Philips was just 0.62 seconds.
India vs New Zealand
New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to field first against Rohit Sharma’s India in the final group stage game of the Champions Trophy 2025. India have been mighty unlucky with its recent string of toss results. This streak continued on Sunday in Dubai when the men in blue registered their 13th consecutive loss.
In ICC tournaments, India do not have a good record against New Zealand with the Black Caps winning 10 times as opposed to India’s 5 wins. So this game is a chance for Rohit Sharma and his boys to improve the record.
