Virat Kohli Set To Receive Massive Boost Ahead Of ICC Champions Trophy Match vs New Zealand - Report (Source: AP)
The India vs New Zealand ICC Champions Trophy match at the Dubai International Stadium will mark Virat Kohli's 300th game in the ODIs. Kohli will become the seventh Indian after Mohammed Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh to play 300 ODIs for India. Kohli will also become the first player to play 300 T20Is, 100 Tests, and 100 T20Is.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is likely to receive a massive boost in the big game as soulmate Anushka Sharma and brother Vikas Kohli are likely to make it to the venue to celebrate Kohli's special occasion, according to reports. Kohli is back to his vintage best after scoring a century against Pakistan and would look to play another match-winning innings for India.
Speaking about Kohli's ODI record, he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest players to feature in the format. Kohli is the third-highest run scorer in the format with 14,085 runs at an impressive average of 58.20 and a strike rate of 93.41. He is also the leading century maker in the ODIs. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record with his 50th hundred during the ODI World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand. Kohli recently became the fastest player to reach 14000 ODI runs. Kohli can break another record during the New Zealand clash. If the India great can score 52 runs in the match, he will become India's leading run scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan who scored 701 runs in 13 matches.
Meanwhile, New Zealand and India have qualified for the semifinal but there is plenty at stake in the match. The winner of the match will top Group A and face Australia in the semifinal.
