Coming into the match on the back of a stunning century against Pakistan, Kohli made a positive start despite the Men in Blue losing the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill early in the match. However, his stay at the crease was short-lived as Phillips pulled off a brilliant catch at covers to dismiss him.
On the fourth ball of the 8th over, Kohli smashed a delivery from Matt Henry but Phillips pulled off a report of his stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan in the first match of the tournament. The 28-year-old dived towards his right and took an incredible diving catch with one hand to ensure the former Indian captain departed after making just 11 runs..
Kohli was evidently in shock at seeing his brilliant shot end up in his dismissal. Kohli's wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma were also in disbelief in the stands, and her reaction went viral on social media.
