Yograj Singh Praises MS Dhoni: 'He Was A Fearless Man, A Motivated Captan' (Source: PTI)
Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, lavished praise on former India captain MS Dhoni for his fearless attitude. Yograj has been very critical of MS Dhoni. The former cricketer often blamed MS Dhoni for spoiling Yuvraj Singh's career, however, in a rare moment, Yograj expressed his admiration for MS Dhoni's leadership qualities and game awareness.
“I find Dhoni as a very motivated captain, who can tell people what to do,” Yograj said on “Unfiltered by Samdish.” “The best thing about Dhoni was that he could read the wicket can tell bowlers where to bowl,” he added.
Dhoni is one of the greatest captains to play for India. He led India to a win in the T20 World Cup 2007, ODI World Cup 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy. The talismanic captain led India in 60 Tests, winning 27 matches, losing 18 and drawing 15. In ODIs, Dhoni captained India in 200 matches, leading the team to a win in 110 matches and losing 74 games, at a win percentage of 55. In T20Is, he captained India in 74 matches, taking India to 41 victories.
Yograj also recalled an incident from the past where MS Dhoni showed his fearless attitude on the field. “What I liked the most about him was that he was a fearless man. If you remember in Australia, he was hit on the grill by Mitchell Johnson and he didn’t moved a bit, he stood there and next ball he pulled him for a six. Aise log kaafi kam hote hai (There are very few people like him),” he said.
MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2019, but he continues to play IPL for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Ahead of the IPL 2025, Dhoni was retained by the franchise as an uncapped player for INR 4 crore.
