India's Women's cricket team made history on Sunday by posting a massive total of 370/5 against Ireland in the second ODI at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
Batting first, India bettered their previous highest score of 358, riding on Jemimah Rodrigues' first international century.
"This means a lot. It's been a long wait to get this hundred. More than anything else, I'm just glad that the team gave me a role at number four and I was able to live up to that," Rodrigues said after her knock.
"Today the most important thing for me was to be there till the 50th over. Because I know that getting runs is not a problem. I'm very good at getting runs. But it is just that feel of batting till the end - that was the thought process, and I'm glad I was able to do that. The hundred just came along. Initially I took some time getting used to the condiitons. I know at any moment I can accelerate, I have that game. But it was important for me to stay there."
"While I was doing that, Harleen kept telling me "just keep playing, keep playing". She also took the lead in between - that really helped me. That partnership was very crucial. She told me when she walked out - "do it for me today". Can't take any team lightly. We've been following the domestic matches that were played here. 390 was chased. So we've spoken this thing in the dressing room that whatever the total, we'll be professional to bowl according to our plans and stick to our execution," she concluded.
