England pacer Tymal Mills has said that neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli have scored the truckloads of runs and earned their reputation just by luck and they will make a comeback soon, having gone through tough times before. Both Kohli and Rohit have been going through a huge slump in their form as they couldn't make a huge contribution with the bat in the recent long Test season of the Indian cricket team.
Despite their low scores in Tests, Mills feels that Rohit and Kohli will be able to bounce back to form ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Ahead of the tournament, India are all set to take on England in a three-match ODI series starting February 6 which will give the chance for Rohit and Kohli to get amongst the runs.
“You don't get the reputation for scoring the amount of runs these guys (Virat and Rohit) have scored in their careers just by luck. It's because they're two of the best players to have ever played (the sport). They'll be able to ride the highs and the lows better than anybody else and they'll have a lot of self-belief in their abilities," Mills said while speaking to The Times of India.
“They've gone through tough times before and come out the other side and they'll know what they need to do to come out on the other side (once again). Hopefully, not too much against England, but you won't be surprised to see them both scoring runs again," Mills added.
Both Rohit and Kohli played a crucial role in India's dream 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, being the top two highest run-scorers in the tournament. While Kohli finished as the highest run scorer of the tournament with a world record 765 runs, Rohit finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 597 runs from 11 knocks as he gave blistering starts to the side throughout the World Cup.
