Mohammed Shami's fitness has been a major point of concern for Team India and the BCCI for the past year. The star pacer last played for Team India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. Since then he has been out with ankle injury. He was rumoured to return for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but could not make it there as well, as he suffered from a fresh knee swelling reportedly. However, it looks like his return in imminent after performing well in the domestic circuit.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Mohammed Shami is highly likely to be picked for the ODI series against England beginning from February 6. He is strongly considering being selected for the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. This is because Shami is most likely to get or has already got clearance from the sports science section of the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (NCA).
Mohammed Shami is unlikely to be picked for the five-match T20I series against England starting from January 22. Arshdeep Singh will spearhead the bowling attack, as Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will also miss the series. Arshdeep is also likely to be selected for the ODI series and the Champions Trophy as well.
