'Till MS Dhoni Is There In CSK, RCB Can't Touch IPL Trophy': Rashid Latif (Source: BCCI/IPL)
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most followed Indian Premier League (IPL) teams yet they are yet to win an IPL trophy. It's a massive surprise to see RCB without a trophy given the quality of players who have represented the franchise. RCB have had issues mainly in the bowling which has let them down in previous years.
Former Pakistan opener Ahmad Shahzad made a big remark and said that having Mohammad Amir in RCB could help the team win their maiden title. Shahzad made the remake on Geo TV show which also had Amir and former wicketkeeper-batter Rashid Latif, who said that RCB should not think of winning the title till MS Dhoni is in the CSK.
If Amir plays for RCB, they could win the IPL title," said Shehzad.
"Till MS Dhoni is there in CSK, don't even think RCB can touch the IPL trophy." replied Latif.
It's not possible to play IPL for Mohammad Amir as Pakistan players are banned from the tournament. The players featured in the first couple of seasons before the BCCI put a ban on Pakistan players due to political rivalry.
AB De Villiers Backs Virat Kohli To Do Well In IPL 2025
If RCB have to win the IPL, Virat Kohli needs to do well. Kohli had a great run last year and won the Orange Cap, with 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75, strike rate of 154.69, a century and five fifties. There were a few concerns about his strike rate which was less than 150 in the first six games, however, Kohli made significant improvement after criticism and struck at 166 in the remaining matches. Former RCB player and South Africa great AB De Villiers rubbished theories around Kohli's strike rate and said that he did what was best for the team.
"The scrutiny over Virat's strike rate was absolutely ridiculous. He had done exactly what his team needed from him. It is all about the situation. When he has someone at the other end he trusts, you see him experiment and play with more freedom. But when that's not the case, he stays true to his natural game--anchoring the innings when needed," said AB on JioHotstar.
