'Let's Play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, 10 T20Is': Pak Great Throws Open Challenge To India After Champions Trophy Loss (Source: AP)
There was a time when Pakistan used to dominate India. Then came a phase when the two teams were evenly matched and delivered thrilling on-field battles. Today, India are a brute force in world cricket while Pakistan, they' ve reduced themselves to a predictable team that would even lose to Bangladesh at home. There is no comparison between the Indian cricket team and Pakistan in the current scenario.
India recently defeated Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy, highlighting the difference in quality between the two teams. The defeat meant that Pakistan were knocked out of the semifinal race. Following the exit, former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq challenged India to play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan to prove their superiority.
"If we keep political things aside, their players are very good, and they have been playing good cricket," Saqlain said on 24 News HD channel.
"If you are really a good team, I think let's play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan, then everything would be clear," he added, in a panel discussion that also included former Pakistan captain Inzaman-ul-Haq.
Reflecting on Pakistan's shambolic show in the ICC Champions Trophy, Saqlain admitted that all is not well in the Pakistan cricket team, but added that it is not something that cannot be fixed. "If we get our preparation right and sort out things in the right direction, then we will be in a situation where we can give solid answers to the world and India as well," said Mushtaq.
India and Pakistan don't play each other in bilateral series and only face off in ICC events and the Asia Cup. The last time India and Pakistan faced each other in a bilateral series was in 2012-13 when Pakistan toured India for a short white-ball series.
