India are all set to return to white-ball cricket when they take on England in a five-match T20I series beginning on January 22 in Kolkata. The BCCI have announced the squad for the series. While there have been some players who have returned after a long time, some players have also been rested keeping the ODI series vs England and Champions Trophy 2025 in mind. However, Shivam Dube, who was part of the victorious T20 World Cup 2024 team, and also a T20I regular for India in the past year or so was ignored. Aakash Chopra has now criticized the team management for ignoring him.
"What happened to Shivam Dube? I wanted to talk about Ruturaj (Gaikwad) as well but he is not able to make his place. Rajat Patidar is also there. Obviously, there is a lot of batting. However, now I am going to focus a little bit on Shivam Dube. He was a member of the T20 World Cup-winning team," Aakash Chopra said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
Aakash Chopra also said that everyone should get the credit for the team's performance. He even mentioned Shivam Dube's contribution in the final, where he scored a quickfire 27 from 16 balls, hitting 3 fours and a six.
"When you win, everyone should get the credit. He even played decently in the final. Before that, there were definitely some questions that he wasn't fielding or batting well. However, then he played well and became the T20 World Cup champion," he added.
