Don Bradman is often regarded as the greatest batter of all time. The iconic Australian star holds the record for the highest average in the history of Test Cricket (an astonishing 99.96). However, legendary Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has now named Jasprit Bumrah as the bowler who would have brought down the Australian legend's average.
Jasprit Bumrah had a stunning performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as he picked up 32 wickets, finishing as the leading wicket-taker. He was awarded the Player of the Series award even though India lost by 1-3. Adam Gilchrist said that Bumrah's performance was beyond any rating.
To highlight the extent of Bumrah's performance, Gilchrist made the bold claim that if Don Bradman had faced Bumrah his average would be pretty lower than 99. He even said that Bradman would have averaged not more than 35 against the Indian pacer.
"I’m not rating him; no number is befitting what he is in world sport. I’m beyond [trinity], seriously. He would have ripped on Bradman’s peak in the matter of balls. It would have been much further south of 99 [average] that he sits at [if they faced each other]. I would give Donald 35 out of Bumrah. You cannot have a reward that’s high enough for him,” Gilchrist said on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast.

Jasprit Bumrah Unlikely To Play Champions Trophy 2025

According to a report by The Indian Express, it is unlikely that Jasprit Bumrah might not feature in the India squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. Bumrah injured himself during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He bowled only 8 overs during the fifth Test of the series at Sydney. He was even taken for scans at a nearby hospital. It later came to light that he suffered from back spasms.
Jasprit Bumrah is yet to recover from this injury, as reports have stated that he will not be included in the ODI series vs England. He is set to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to rehabilitate from his injury. He is also reportedly consulting his doctor in New Zealand, who conducted his back surgery in 2022.
