Kane Williamson will be seen playing in the Pakistan Super League 2025 as he has been picked by Karachi Kings in the PSL draft. He will be sharing the dressing room with David Warner, his former teammate at IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Williamson registered himself for the PSL after getting snubbed in the IPL 2025 auction. Williamson wasn’t picked up by anyone in the platinum category and Karachi Kings came back for the former New Zealand skipper in the supplementary round.
Williamson is taking part in the SA20 for Durban Giants and gave a very good account of himself against the Pretoria Capitals with a 40-ball 60. Williamson is regarded as one of the best in the long format while his addition will definitely add more depth to Karachi Kings.
Warner also will be plying his trade for the time in the PSL after he found no takers in the IPL auction. A maximum of eight retentions were permitted for each PSL side. While three teams have utilised the full quota, the remaining three sides retained seven players each.
Warner led SRH to the IPL title in 2016 and Williamson was also a pivotal part of that team.
For the first time, This is the first time PSL will have a clash with the IPL and the PCB has been making its full efforts to get some big names for the upcoming season which is scheduled to be held in April-May.
Williamson turned down New Zealand cricket’s central contract but he remains available for selection in international cricket as it stands.
