Not Suryakumar Yadav! Ex-Selector Names 21-Year-Old As Strong Contender For Champions Trophy 2025 Selection

After missing out on qualifying for the WTC 2025 final, India have a chance to make amends by winning another mega ICC tournament when they take the field from February 20 to win the ICC Champion Trophy 2025. The whole country is in deep anticipation to see what the squad would be for the mega tournament. One of the players in contention is Suryakumar Yadav, Even though he is the T20I captain for India he has not made it big in the 50-over format. However, former chief selector MSK Prasad has named another player who is a strong contender for selection.
In an interaction with The Times of India, MSK Prasad said that Nitish Kumar Redddy is a strong contender for being selected in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. THis is because he has already had a significant impact for India in both his debut T230I series vs Bangladesh and the debut Test Series vs Australia.
“People often say that ODIs are a perfect blend of Test cricket’s resilience and T20 cricket’s explosiveness. Nitish has proven to be a rare combination of class and aggression, excelling across formats in his short but impactful international career. Having already seized opportunities in T20s and Tests, Nitish’s exceptional form and versatility make a strong case for his inclusion in India’s upcoming ODI squad against England. His consistency and ability to rise to the occasion also position him as a key contender for a spot in the Champions Trophy squad," Prasad said.
Nitish Reddy Selected For T20I Series Vs England
According to a report by The Indian Express, Nitish Kumar Reddy has found a place in the squad for the five-match T20I series vs England. The biggest news coming in from the squad announcement is that Mohammed Shami is set to return after more than a year in the series starting from January 22.
