Not Suryakumar Yadav Or Shubman Gill! Bangar Names 30-Year-Old Star Who Can Sixes With Ease Like Yuvraj Singh (Source: AP)

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar lavished praise on Sanju Samson for making the most of the opportunities. Samson never really got a long run with team India and was in and out of the side, however, his recent performances, which saw the batter score centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa as an opener, has cemented his place in the Indian T20I team. Bangar said he is happy to see Samson flourish, saying that a good run of opportunities allowed him to bring out his best cricket.
"Glad to see the kind of success that he has been blessed with currently. He has been there for a long time. It's just that he has got the right opportunities and a good run of opportunities because every batter, if he is playing three or four matches in a row, that frees him a little bit," Bangar told Star Sports, as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Bangar also compared Samson to Yuvraj Singh and said the wicketkeeper-batter can hit sixes with ease, similar to Yuvraj Singh.
"Batting up the order, he doesn't really have to worry about the situation. The field is up and he is a six-hitter. He can hit sixes with ease. After Yuvraj Singh, if there is one batter who can do it with such ease on a consistent basis, it has to be Sanju Samson. So just to see him firing on all cylinders is a treat to watch," Bangar observed.
Meanwhile, Samson was picked in the India squad for the T20I series against England. The selectors opted to give Samson a shot in the squad ahead of Rishabh Pant.
India T20 squad: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel (vc), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (wk).
