After suffering a major setback in Test Cricket by failing to make the WTC 2025 final, Team India are set to return to white-ball ticket with a T20I and ODI series vs England, which will be followed by the Champions Trophy 2025. One of the big questions in the minds of Indian fans is whether Shubman Gill is the ideal opening partner for Rohit Sharma in white-ball cricket. Gill has not been in great form recently. He did not perform well in the ODI World Cup 2023, and the last ODI series against Sri Lanka. Now, it looks like India are looking at someone else to partner with Rohit.
According to a report by Bengali newspaper Aajkal, the Indian team management is looking at Yashasvi Jaiswal to partner Rohit Sharma as the permanent opening partner for India in ODIs. This will start with the ODI series against England. The report states that the selectors were not sure about Jaiswal's credentials in ODIs but his performances in Test cricket recently has bound them to think otherwise.
Jasprit Bumrah Likely To Miss ODI Series
According to a report by RevSportz, Jasprit Bumrah is all but likely to miss the ODI series against England that begins from February 9. The team management is also sweating over his availability for the Champions Trophy 2025. The report says that Bumrah might be selected for the squad for the mega tournament, but will likely miss the first few matches if the injury is serious. He will definitely be available for the knockouts.
Jasprit Bumrah's name is expected to be included in the Champions Trophy squad with an asterisk, as he will need clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) medical team after he returns to full fitness
According to a report by SportsTak, the star fast bowler will consult the BCCI medical team along with his personal doctor who operated on him in New Zealand the last time he was out injured in 2022.
