'I've had Enough': Gautam Gambhir Lashes Out At Team India After Melbourne Thrashing - Report (Source: AP)
The Boxing Day Test defeat to Australia has put India on the verge of losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a decade-old streak. India started the series with a bang and won the first Test by 295 runs, however, what followed was a series of shambolic performances. They suffered a 10-wicket loss in Adelaide before rain helped them escape a defeat at GABBA. The team did not learn from their mistakes and paid for it after losing the Boxing Day Test by 184 runs.
This is not just a one-off tour where India performed badly, but the previous series against New Zealand where India were whitewashed at home tells that something, somewhere is not right in team India.
India coach Gautam Gambhir reportedly pulled up the players for their careless cricket shortly after the defeat in Melbourne. "Bahut Ho Gya," he said as quoted by Indian Express while criticising the team for not executing the plans discussed and doing things of their own.

Virat Kohli was dismissed while chasing a wide delivery at the stroke of Lunch on Day 5 in Melbourne. Rishabh Pant too didn't try to put money on his wicket and was dismissed to part-timer Travis Head, caught at the boundary. Yashasvi Jaiswal, even though he played well, went for a pull shot despite the field set for it late in the day, while captain Rohit was out while playing a shot across the line, all contributing to the team's horrific defeat.
It is learned that Gambhir told the players he allowed them to play as they wanted, but would now take matters in his own hands and decide how the team will play. He said the players who would not follow his pre-match strategy would be shown the way out of the team.
India have not lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2014-15 and if they want to retain the trophy, they must defeat Australia in the final Test in Sydney.
