Bhaker scripted history at the recently concluded 2024 edition of the Summer Olympic games in Paris as she became the first Indian woman to bag multiple medals at a single edition of the quadrennial extravaganza.
The 22-year-old shooter claimed the nation’s first medal in the French capital city during the sporting spectacle as she placed third in the women’s individual 10m air pistol event.
She doubled her tally as she registered another bronze medal in the 10m mixed team air pistol event alongside Sarabjot Singh to rewrite history books.
India managed to claim an overall tally of six medals including a silvers and five bronze medals.
Ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra claimed the lone silver for the Indian tricolour, while shooters Bhaker, Sarabjot Singh, Swapnil Kusale, the Indian Hockey Team, and wrestler Aman Sherawat placed third in their events.
Kusale came in third in the men’s 50m rifle three-position event to bag a maiden medal for the country in the event. While the hockey team made it back-to-back bronze medals at the sporting extravaganza. Sherawat bagged the bronze in the men’s 57 Kg freestyle wrestling event.
