Virat Kohli Needs 54 Runs In The Final To Become First Player In The World To Score 800 Runs In ICC Champions Trophy (Source: AP/PTI)

Virat Kohli has been in ominous form in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy. Kohli is the third leading run-scorer of the tournament, with 217 runs in three matches, including a hundred and a fifty. He scored a magnificent hundred against Pakistan, helping India win by six wickets before a magnificent 84 led India to a win over Australia in the semifinal.
Kohli's form was a big concern heading into the tournament but big players step up on big days and Kohli has done exactly what was expected of him. Chasing 265 wasn't easy in Dubai and losing Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill early didn't help the cause. Kohli, however, stood tall and added a handy partnership with Shreyas Iyer (45) to lay the platform for the win. Hardik Pandya (28) and KL Rahul (42) added the finishing touches to India's brilliant win.

Virat Kohli Nears Massive Milestone

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is nearing a massive milestone in the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal. Virat Kohli is just 54 away from becoming the first player in the world to score 800 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy. Kohli has scored 746 runs in 17 matches in the tournament. He is only behind the table topper Chris Gayle, who scored 791 runs.
Virat Kohli has already broken a plethora of records during the ongoing Championship. He became the fastest batter to score 14000 runs in international cricket. The hundred against Pakistan was his 51st century in ODIs, thus making him the only player to have 51 hundreds in any format of the game. Against Australia, Kohli became the quickest to reach the 8000-run mark while chasing scores.
India will play the winner of South Africa vs New Zealand semifinal in the summit clash of the ICC Champions Trophy on March 9 at the Dubai International Stadium.
