India have sealed a massive 4-wicket win against Australia in a tense semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025. This means that they have now qualified for the final of the mega tournament that will be held at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (March 9). India now become the first team in history to reach three consecutive Champions Trophy final. This is also their third consecutive ICC white-ball tournament final after the 2023 ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup 2024. Now India will have to wait to see who they will face in the summit clash.
Who Will India Face In Champions Trophy 2025 Final?
In the second semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025, South Africa are set to take on New Zealand on March 5 (Wednesday) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The winner of this high-voltage match will then qualify for the final, and face India in a battle for the title.
India have earlier faced both New Zealand and South Africa in ICC event finals. They took on the Kiwis in the 2021 World Test Championship finals, which they lost. On the other hand, India famously defeated South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 to lift the title for the second team.
Virat Kohli Guides India To Champions Trophy 2025 Final
Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. Steve Smith led the Aussie innings with a wonderful 73-run innings. Alex Carey also shined with the bat in the lower order as he scored a crucial half-century. Travis Head also gave them a fast start with a 39-run knock from just 33 balls.
Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he too three wickets for 48 runs. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja also shone with 2 wickets each.
India lost the two early wickets of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, but it was chase master Virat Kohli who pulled them back with a match-winning 84-run knock. Shreyas Iyer played a solid 45-run knock. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya slammed 42 and 28 respectively, as India won the match by 4 wickets.
