Pakistan were hosting an ICC tournament for the first time after 29 years in the form of the Champions Trophy 2025. However, it was a disastrous performance by the hosts, as they were knocked out of the group stage without a single win on the board. A lot depended on their star batter Babar Azam's performances. He scored just 87 runs in two matches. He did score 64 in the first game against New Zealand, but it came at a pretty slow pace in 90 balls, in a run chase of 320. In the match against India, he scored 23 runs. Now, it looks like that Babar is in trouble after his team's poor performances.
According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, Babar Azam is set to be excluded from the Pakistan T20 squad that is set to travel to New Zealand to take on the Kiwis in a five-match series beginning from March 16. There have also been discussions on resting most of the senior players for the series. The team management has decided to include young players for the T20I series.
Pakistan will also play three ODIs against New Zealand beginning for March 29 in the same tour. The decision on whether babar Azam will be rested from this series as well is yet to be taken by the team management.

“The Prime Minister will personally take notice, and we will also ask him to raise these cricket-related issues in the cabinet as well as in the parliament," Sanaullah stated.
