Pakistan have had a horrific campaign at the Champions Trophy 2025. They were knocked out of the group stages of the tournament without even registering a single win in the competition, finishing bottom of the group. Ahead of the start of the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reconstructed three of their stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. They spent the most on the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with estimates of PKR 1800 crore (INR 563 Crore) being spent. However, the board has definitely been left red-faced at the poor condition of the new stadium just four days before the crucial semi-final here on March 6 (Wednesday).
In a video that has now gone viral, the roof of one of the bathrooms of the new Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore can be seen leaking profusely as rain started pouring in Lahore during the Afghanistan vs Australia match.

The Afghanistan vs Australia match was called off after 52 overs were bowled. Even many hours after the rain had stopped, the ground looked in a pretty bad condition as primitive methods like wipers were used for drying the groumd. The lack of enough super soppers was also visible, highlighting the poor drainage management of the new stadium.
In fact, three of the last five matches in Pakistan of the Champions Trophy 2025- one in Lahore and two in Rawalpindi- were washed out due to rain.
PCB To Refund Tickets Of Washouts
The PCB has now confirmed they will refund the price of the tickets for the majority of spectators who witnessed these two washouts at Rawalpindi. This is because the guidelines of the PCB state that the ticket prices will only be refunded if the toss does not take place.
The standard enclosure tickets will be refunded, while the ticket prices of other categories like box and gallery will not be eligible for recommendation.
