Shubman Gill had a magnificent outing in the ICC Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The wicket wasn't the easiest to bat and chasing 229 was a tricky ask. However, Gill played with composure and scored his eighth ODI hundred to lead India to a win by six wickets.
Gill has been one of the key batters for India in ODIs. With the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not in the best form, he has stepped up his game. He was phenomenal in the ODI series against England and scored two fifties and a hundred to lead India to a 3-0 win.
Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was delighted with Shubman Gill's performance. As he led India to a win, Rohit paid him a heartfelt tribute by emulating his trademark bow down. The video went viral on social media, with fans lauding the Indian captain's gesture.

Most Satisfying Hundred - Shubman Gill

The hundred by Gill came in 125 balls, which was his slowest ODI hundred. Gill was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his stunning knock. Reacting to his ODI hundred, Shubman Gill termed it his most satisfying ODI century.
"Definitely one of my most satisfying innings that I have played and my first century in ICC events. Very satisfying and very happy with the way I performed. When me and Rohit bhai went out there, we thought cutting the ball wasn't easy because the balls which were outside the off-stump weren't coming onto the bat that nicely. So I thought of using my feet to even the fast bowlers and tried to go over the circle," he said.
"When the spinners came on, me and Virat bhai were talking in the middle that it's not easy to score singles off the front foot, so we'll try to score singles off the back foot. And it's not easy to hit down the ground, so we just keep rotating the strike. At one point, there was a bit of pressure on us. The message was sent from outside that I have to try to bat till the end and that's what I tried to do. (On his two sixes) The first one gave me a lot of confidence and the second one helped me come closer to my hundred, so both were very satisfying," Gill added post-match presentation.
Meanwhile, Gill has reached 2688 runs in 51 ODI innings and if he can continue the form and score 312 runs in the next five innings, he will become the fastest player to score 3000 ODI runs, leapfrogging Hashim Amla who reached the milestone in 57 innings.
