Virat Kohli has been named in Delhi's probable squad for the second round of the Ranji Trophy and the fans are hoping that he turns up Delhi against Saurashtra. As per PTI, the BCCI directed the players to play domestic cricket when they are not on national duty. India captain Rohit Sharma has hinted at featuring for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir as he joined the state team's practice. Yashasvi Jaiswal is also likely to feature for Mumbai.
Virat could finally play a Ranji Trophy match after 12 years. He last played a Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh in November 2012. His previous appearance for Delhi came in the NKP Salve Trophy in 2013.
Virat, who was Team India's vice-captain back then, captained a star-studded Delhi team which included the likes of Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Unmukt Chand and others. Virat Kohli could lead Delhi if he turns up for them in the Ranji Trophy match. Aayush Badoni replaced Himmat Singh as captain during the first round. Badoni might assist Virat if he leads Delhi. Himmat, Yash Dhull and Anuj Rawat are among the confirmed selections in Delhi's playing XI.
Delhi are confirmed to be boosted with Rishabh Pant's presence. The wicketkeeper-batsman has confirmed that he will play against Saurashtra. Ishant Sharma has informed Delhi that he won't play red-ball cricket now. The veteran pacer has been out of Team India since 2022 and his international career is over. Simarjeet Singh is expected to lead Delhi's pace attack in the second round.
