Not Jasprit Bumrah Or Shubman Gill! Ex-IND Batter Names 2 Potential Captains For India After Rohit Sharma Era (Source: AP)

Rohit Sharma's days as India's Test captain are numbered and the skipper is unlikely to hang around in Tests for long. According to reports, Rohit has expressed willingness to continue as India captain for a while and asked BCCI to look for a suitable candidate in the meantime. Rohit's career was put in jeopardy after team India was knocked out of the World Test Championship (WTC) following back-to-back series defeats to New Zealand and Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah is the front-runner to replace Rohit Sharma, but given that the pacer might miss several series due to workload management, there are doubts if he is a good choice to lead India. There are murmurs that Shubman Gill could also take over India's leadership, however, his recent form has not been great and he is not a certainty in the Test team anymore.

Aakash Chopra Picks Two Potential India Captains

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels neither Bumrah nor Gill, but Yashasvi Jaiswal or Rishabh Pant could take over from Rohit Sharma as India captain.
"Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant - which of the two can become the captain? It's a beautiful question because, as per sources, Rohit has said that he will manage the team for a few months, but after that, you (the BCCI) can find whoever you want, and since there could be an injury issue with Bumrah, it's your wish," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, Chopra gave a short-term solution to BCCI and said they should appoint Jasprit Bumrah as captain for the Egland tour and pick the player they want to groom as long-term captain as Bumrah's deputy for the tour.
"I had a solution that we should see after six months. If Jasprit Bumrah captains the entire England tour, appoint a vice-captain properly because you have to groom him. Let's be very honest, when we won the T20 World Cup, it seemed like the grooming process was going very well," he observed.
