Jasprit Bumrah OUT, Mohammed Shami IN: Predicted India Playing XI For ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group Stage

After missing out on qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025, India have a chance at redemption as they aim to win another ICC trophy in just over a month. This is because India will take the field from February 20 in quest of winning the Champions Trophy 2025, with the tournament marking its return for the first time since 2017. India face Bangladesh (January 20), Pakistan (January 23) and New Zealand (March 2) in the group stage. There are reports that Jasprit Bumrah might miss the entire group stage of the tournament.
According to a report by Revsportz, Jasprit Bumrah will be selected in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad, but his back injury might force him to skip the entire group stages. Hence, India will need to depend on the experience of Mohammed Shami, who is reported to make his return, to lead the pace attack. Arshdeep Singh will be the other pacer in the attack, who will add variety with his left-arm seam bowling.
Not Yashasvi Jaiswal! Shubman Gill To Open
Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the Indian team and is expected to guide them to glory in the Champions Trophy. He will open the batting alongside Shubman Gill. Yashasvi Jaiswal will not be part of the playing XI. Virat Kohli will come in his usual position of no.3, with Shreyas Iyer to follow at no.4. Rishabh Pant is expected to be the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter during the group stages. Hardik Pandya will the main pace bowling all-rounder in the squad. He will be the third pace bowling option, and will also provide some explosive batting at no.6.
Ravindra Jadeja OUT
Ravindra Jadeja is not expected to make it to the India squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The two spin-bowling all-rounders in the squad will be Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav is expected to be the specialist spinner in the playing XI for the group stages.
