'Irfan's Version Of Running Between The Wicket': Sanjay Manjrekar Clashes With Pathan On Live TV- WATCH

Former Indian cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan had a verbal spat on live television on Friday, after the end of the second day's play between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. During a discussion on the Star Sports Network, Pathan and Manjrekar didn't see eye-to-eye on the Yashasvi Jaiswal run-out, leading to a bit of a heated chat between the duo.
The point behind Pathan and Manjrekar's debate was Jaiswal's run out and whether ace India batter Virat Kohli could have been more active in preventing it. While Pathan said that there was not much Kohli could do, Manjrekar said that he should been conscious enough to prevent it.
Jaiswal, who was quite fluent during his 118-ball stay that yielded 82 runs on the second day, was way short of his crease after a mix-up with Kohli (36) while attempting a quick single, handing Australia the breakthrough that could prove decisive.
"At the other end was Virat Kohli and we tend to think a little more from his side. It was a schoolboy error from Kohli to look behind and decide that there was no run. The call is not for the non-striker to make. It always belongs to the batter who has played the ball," Manjrekar said.
"There is another truth of cricket that if the ball is played at point, the non-striker is the one to make a call. And the striker is at full liberty to turn it down. He can also say no sometimes," Pathan replied. Watch the video here:
"If you don't want to listen, there isn't much left here. I think the time has come for a new coaching manual to be released, which will have Irfan Pathan's version of running between the wicket," Manjrekar said.
Earlier, riding on ace Australia batter Steve Smith's 140, his second consecutive hundred of the series, Australia scored 474 and then reduced India to 164/. This was after Jaiswal and Kohli (36) had added 102 runs for the third wicket.
