PCB, ICC Seek Written Response From BCCI Over India's Champions Trophy Stance - Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought a written response from the BCCI over India's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy. The tournament is set to be played in Pakistan in February -March 2025, however, India's unclear stance on their participation has kept PCB and ICC on their toes.

As per a report in CricketPakistan, the ICC has instructed the BCCI to seek a written response from the Indian government regarding the team's participation in the Champions Trophy. India have not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup due to security concerns and their participation in the showpiece event in Pakistan next year rests on the Indian government's approval.

The report further adds that if the BCCI fail to give a clear response, the ICC will announce the Champions Trophy schedule, with India's matches scheduled in Lahore. The schedule is likely to be announced between November 10-12 at a special event in Pakistan. The ICC is also prepared for India's refusal to play in Pakistan and have already devised a contingency plan, the details of which remain undisclosed.

PCB Optimistic About India Touring Pakistan

Meanwhile, the PCB is optimistic about the Indian cricket team playing the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. While promising easy visas for the Indian fans, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi said, "the Indian team should come. I don't see them cancel or postpone coming here and we are confident we will host all the teams in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan."
